Desiccant & Evaporative Cooling Systems

Eurex supplies all the components used in low-energy and refrigerant-free cooling applications. The two types of system are a) direct evaporative or desiccant cooling or b) indirect evaporative, adiabatic cooling.

The combined parts of the desiccant system is the combination of a thermal and desiccant wheel with an evaporative humidifier and drying heater. The desiccant rotor de-humidifies the air whilst the thermal wheel cools the air.

Various types of desiccant rotor are available and the items can be supplied separately to OEM or AHU manufacturers or fitted into an air handling unit section.

The indirect cooling system works with either a thermal wheel or a plate heat exchanger that has been specially treated with a hydrophilic chemical over its surfaces.

In both instances a purpose-made water spray or humidifier is fitted to achieve the cooling effect. With the plate heat exchanger there is absolutely no risk of the addition of water into the supply air. Cool energy is transferred indirectly through the plates.

Both types are available as component parts or Supplied as a complete air handling unit.
